Cavy Encounter is run by Joanna Webster who IS AN EXPERIENCED CAVY OWNER AND PRODUCER, EXHIBITING AT SHOWS Purebred Rex and Teddy cavies as well as showing smooth and funky pets WITH HER CHILDREN.

Nail Trim
CAVIES ARE NOT ALWAYS THE MOST POLITE SPA ATTENDEES THEY LIKE TO SQUIGGLE AND SQWEEK LIKE ITS THE END OF THE WORLD, IT CAN BE NERVE-WREAKING CUTTING TINY NAILS AS YOU DON'T WANT TO HURT THEM BY MAKING THE QUICK BLEED.
i SUGGEST trimming nails every 8 - 10 weeks dependant on age.

REGARDLESS HOW LONG YOUR CAVIES NAILS HAVE GOTTEN if YOU'VE PUT IT OFF OR NOT NOTICED HOW LONG THEY HAVE GOTTEN. i AM here to help no judgement and if you want to learn how to do it i have plenty of tips and tricks on doing it safely. or happy to keep coming back to trim for you.

While Trimming Nails I will give your cavy a top to toe check over for coat and skin condition and give advice on any care this might need. This takes about 15minutes per cavy.

How to Groom workshop
plenty of people say cavies don't need grooming they keep themselves clean and groom themselves. yes they do groom themselves but its more a maintenance groom and just like certain dog breeds they need to be groomed in certain ways to keep their coat and skin in good healthy condition and make them comfortable.

A How to Groom workshop provides you with the knowledge to do all the head to toe checks and how to groom your certain cavy coat.
tHIS IS A HANDS ON SESSION AND i hope to leave you feeling confident to maintain your cavy, but I'm always on hand for the stuff you need help with on future grooms.

for this session I provide all the tools and can guide you in purchasing the correct tools for future grooming.
​
THis workshop I come to you in your home, it can include up to 2 cavies and can take up to 1hour or 2HR if your cavy needs a bath. suitable for adults and children can get involved too.

Currently I provide workshops at your home for your own cavies
£30 for 2 cavies. This includes a travel cost upto 10miles sn12 7jg
I Will need access to warm water for bathing.
i will be holding Interactive Group workshops for adult and children all about cavy care and grooming at a venue in Melksham in the near future. Ear clean – remove excess wax and debris, moisturise outer ear.

Nail trimming/file and foot spur removal/foot ointment application

Hair trimming/cutting/matt removal/skirt trim

Grease gland clean

Boar impaction clean/check

Skin check for lumps, bumps, cuts or bite marks or other health conditions such as ringworm.

FULL gROOM INCLUDES THE ABOVE PLUS A BATH AND BLOWDRY.
bASIC gROOM - I can visit your home to do a basic Groom, IT can INCLUDE A BUM WASH AND SKIRT TRIM (LONGHAIRED), BUT DOESN'T INCLUDE A FULL BATH AND BLOWDRY.

Full groom - i CAN PROVIDE A FULL GROOM at my home in Melksham, due to insurance purposes I can't invite you in but will establish a drop off and pick up time to suit you, sessions take between 45mintes for 1 cavy and 1hr 15minutes for a pair.
